How to Swim in a Shallow World

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

We live in a generation of people that focus on what things look like, instead of how things feel. The physical has now taken precedence over the mental and as long as you look appealing, no one cares if your mind is a mess. Matter of a fact, people will ask you for your social media handle before they ever ask you for your name. People will ask you what you do, instead of who you are. The shallow end of pool is full and those brave enough to get wade in the water are considered woke and or weird. I’m not sure if it is the fear of being hurt that causes a lack of vulnerability, but many live on the surface and since the creation of social media, no one likes to swim.

Instead of experiencing life, many are only being entertained by it. Instead of feeling life, many are only filming it. So, how do you swim in a shallow world? How to you stay soulful in the world of the soulless? How do you keep your heart when so many are heartless? Well, I’m glad you asked! The fact that you are even reading this blog is a good indicator that you are on the path of enlightenment, and you are yearning to become, instead of just be.

Below are the best ways to swim in a shallow world:

Believe none of what you see and all of what you feel.

The more in tune you are with yourself, the more you will start to recognize the energy around you. Trust what you feel and honor it. Listen not to what people say from their mouth, but believe all of what you feel radiating from their heart.

Instead of focusing on entertainment, focus on advancement.

The club is fun and all, but have you ever gone to a conference to learn more about something you were interested in? Find a local conference in your city and learn something new. Whether the conference is about starting a business, how to do make-up, how to invest in real estate or how to become a licensed broker, feeding yourself substance is the first step to getting off the surface.

I recently went to Invest Fest curated by Earn Your Leisure, and not only did I receive a plethora of knowledge and get the opportunity to network with leaders from various industries, but I also left inspired.

Instead of waking up and going straight to your phone, read.

The only way to change your life, is to change the way you think. The best way to change the way you think, is to learn about different perspectives. Read more self-help books, read autobiographies about the people that inspire you and or study how spirituality is practiced in different countries.

Spend time with yourself.

I have always been very cautious of people who never like to be alone. People that are not comfortable in their own skin typically fear solitude because their thoughts are triggering. Spend time with yourself. It is very important that you give your mind quiet time so you can clearly hear your heart. When you master yourself, you will see that solitude is truly solace. The best way to stay in a constant state of peace, is to be present with yourself.

Practice abstinence.

In a generation that likes to keep everything casual, keep yourself sacred. When you start to value yourself, you will no longer want to share the same space with certain people, especially if they are low vibrational. Sex is an exchange of energy, and some people are leaving their demons with you. The soul ties that are created casually through this exchange typically take minutes to create and years to break.

Stop caring what people think.

The more you care about what others think, the more you will forget who you are. If you live your life for others, you sadly have already died. God didn’t send you hear to people please. You were sent here to pursue a purpose.

Practice peace.

In a world of people that match energy, have enough power to master yours by maintaining it. If you cannot give people your best, do not show them your worse. The person that practices peace is typically in a constant state of prayer. Also, practice peace by not allowing anyone or anything to disrupt it. Leave the job, the relationship, the city, and or the perspective if it is no longer serving you. It is better to starve than to eat food that has spoiled.

Always remember, you are a spiritual being having a human experience. I think if you chose to focus on the spirit and not the self, you can kill your ego and reach your ethereal. It is very simple to stay on the surface. It is comfortable to be content, but if you truly want to live your best life, swim. If you truly want to be present with all that is divine, you are going to have to dive.

Swimming in the shallow end hinders you from experiencing life in all of it’s vastness. If you are too scared to fully dunk yourself in the water, you will live life as an onlooker, envying those brave enough to be submerged in the sea.
