Kingdom Come: Living With Heaven in Mind, Right Here on Earth

By Jodie Smith | The Heart Helper

When Jesus said, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10), He wasn’t giving us a poetic phrase for Sunday recitations—He was inviting us into a new way of life. A spiritual shift. A divine reality that’s not waiting on a trumpet to sound, but is available now. Right here. Right where you are.

We often think of the Kingdom of God as some far-off place in the clouds. A paradise we’ll get to after we die if we “live right.” But Jesus flipped the script on that idea when He said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20-21)

That verse alone should pause us.Because if the Kingdom is within us, then heaven isn’t waiting on us—we’re being called to bring heaven here.

What Does the Kingdom Really Mean?

The Kingdom of God is not just a destination; it’s a demonstration. It’s a way of thinking. A way of living. It’s when we choose love over ego, faith over fear, and obedience over opinion.

Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

That means the Kingdom is not only present—it’s priority. We don’t chase blessings. We align with purpose. And blessings follow alignment.

To live in the Kingdom means we forgive even when we’ve been wronged. We give without expecting a return. We build what won’t collapse when the markets crash, because we’re anchored in something eternal.

Living in the Now, with the Kingdom in View

The beauty of the Kingdom is that it’s not just about what we escape from—but what we’re called to establish. We are here to reflect God’s will on earth just as it is in heaven.

That means…

  • We pursue peace in a world addicted to conflict.

  • We walk in purpose, even when we feel overlooked.

  • We embody the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)—as evidence that the Kingdom is in us.

Jesus told His disciples, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.” (Mark 9:1)It was His way of saying: don’t wait to live like citizens of heaven. Start now.

Kingdom Minded. Earth Planted. Eternally Anchored.

Living with “Kingdom come” in perspective requires us to ask:Am I building what will last in heaven, or just what gets likes on earth?Am I praying for the Kingdom but still living for culture?Am I aligned with heaven's rhythm or my own routine?

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about posture.A heart bowed to the King.A life willing to reflect His reign.

So today, I invite you to wake up to the reality that Kingdom come is not a one-day hope—it’s a right-now call.

Heaven is not only where we’re going; it’s what we’re carrying.

Let’s walk like it. Love like it. Live like it.

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)

And remember: When we align with the divine, heaven meets earth—through us.
